Not too much black....
Since we are on the topic of black, lets dig a little further as to what makes this "non colour" so appealing. It definitely adds drama, anchors the eye, and should be used as punctuation throughout a room. Black goes with everything, black is timeless and elegant. Black is not necessarily gothic if used properly. As per Lynda Reeves, black is the next colour for kitchen cabinetry (which i think looks fabulous), and black is also daring. My personal favourite is "Off Black" by Farrow and Ball. My last project, I recommended to my friend that we paint her small entrance black. Not only it seperates it from the adjacent rooms, it adds great drama to her entrance. Her scheme is off white and black throughout her house, so it only made sense we would reverse the paint scheme. It looks absolutely amazing (with that blue tinge "Off black" is so popular for. What really makes the whole space work, is that teal vinyl bergere bench she added next to the entrance. Absolutely amazing mariage! Personally I cannot think of other black I like better in terms of paint. My new client is daring and likes to go all the way.. So we have decided to sport a slightly curves black velvet sofa which makes it great for converstaion. We have added two Art Deco cream leather and black frame chairs, and textured tone on tone zebra print rug, and "Cord" by Farrow and Ball on the walls. Classy combo for a very classy lady!
