Dear Readers, I came across this stunning picture! Gold, pinks and blues, glitz, warmth and sexiness! It had intensity and movement, therefore I decided to create a room around it! The colours used are subtle, and work in symphony to pick up and be in harmony with the photo! You could do the same at home with your favourite piece of artwork or photograph!
Have fun!

Shots of gold
Good morning readers! This post is dedicated to the influence of gold in interiors. As you know, gold has a metallic colour, and gold is yellow. I much prefer it to silver, I find that it has much more warmth to it, and it has an unexpected look to it. The one I stay away from is polished brass which can be seen as too "granny" and "tacky" bu most people. One of my project now is a master bedroom with a strong reference to golds, yellows and dark yellows. I am bringing in a few accent notes such as a violet and a touch of mauve to break it all up. When you look at a colourwheel, it is the complimentary colour of yellows.Gold metals marries very well with everything and adds that extra dimension that is considered a reflective surface. Personally, i'm not crazy about mixing metals, I find it too jarring and it looks too much like we are trying to move into the next "phase" of metal working in interiors. So, I pass!
Have a fantastic day!

Black and white and so much in between
Black/cream and any primary colour is a killer combo! As far as metal goes, personally I much prefer gold (or ochres) to chrome or silver. It adds warmth, and vibrancy, but every designer is different! The latter photo is a favourite of mine, because the bergere was turned into a modern piece. The plaid stripe gives it that extra graphic edge.

Lets play some more with colours and textures
This arrangement makes you want to stare at it all day long. Why? Because there are so many different types of textures (the glass shelves, the metallic Moraccan poufs, the velvet Louis XVI chairs, the glaze of the green elephant)...The light fixture is mid century, concealed and stunning! This whole picsture illustrates the duality between gold and silver and how they CAN co-exist. It adds tension, and drama. Something unexpected!
