Black window frames. Low cost, huge impact!

Donna Karan's Manhattan condo... Great black windows frame the view, add an architectural element to the room.

This palette is great. Brushed brass lights warm up the cream and black frame. Shot of purple Ikat pillows to contrast and you have a great kitchen nook. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinners! Painting the frames black automotically adds a grandiose, old world feel to any room. It also anchors the eye dramatically. The windows seem recessed, and what you see is no longet the window frame, but the view outside. I would recomment it at home on all your windows. My last client painted the frames of both their bedroom and master ensuite in black, and they love it! What a difference it makes...

David Hicks, the return Aussie style

I have been pestering some of you to look into this great designer from down under. Someone who treasures the past with an incredible eye for modern streamlined interiors. Hicks loves art glass, especially the 1950s and '60s designs from Murano. His favourite designers are Flavio Poli, Antonio da Ros and Dino Martens. His work echoes the late David Hicks, the great British legendary designer from the 60-70's (not to confuse the two). I think his work is better composed than a lot of other famous designers out there with the same flair for grandiose and colour saturated interiors. Its more visually clean while keeping this great balance, much like a Mozart symphony! I guess the lesson here is that you can still be bold while staying understated and keeping a sense of history throughout your space!
Its simply spectacular!

 Enjoy:)

Drama.. more drama...

Nothing says "Drama" like a stunning light fixture.. What is inspiring me today is the drama surrounding me on a personal level. Light fixture symbolizes many things including a divine intervention.. but more realistically, it is viewed as a piece of jewelry in a room. No room should be without one! The first pictures look like lights on a highway at night.. Dark and eerie a little! All the photos were borrowed from a blog named Bodie and Fou..
