Transformation..(part 3)

My dear readers, I had the pleasure of walking into this great home a few weeks ago with great bones but in serious need of a transformation, a renewal and a day at the spa! I broke it up into sections. The floors are blond and the walls cream. Why would you want to live sandwiched in those tones?... Here is Elle's last contribution to the main floor:

Sitting room

(Asian brass & frosted glass floor lamp, 50's, 1stDibs, cowhide, artwork Cecil Touchon)

Entrance:

(Rug, Chinese Deco rug from 1st Dibs, Artwork (Portrait Of 'solskin' By Danish Painter Carl Meyer, denmark 1910), carved stone console (1st Dibs), light fixture 70's acrylic with brass)

Christmas is coming!

Christmas is around the corner again! I must say the best gift of all is the fact that i was able to start my own Interior Design company in a month and already have the best clients! I love my new career path, and my new life! I'm becoming one of those people that say how lucky they are for practicing what they love! What a great feeling! I'm grateful to have beautiful children, and just to be healthy! Let enjoy the small things in life and be grateful for what we have around us, and appreciate the beauty all around us!... By the way, I love the vignette I just posted. Careful when picking "gray-based" paints. This colour does not work in North facing rooms, or in a room that has poor natural light!... ;)

more entrances.. showstopping colours

Most people in North America would shy away from using such strong colours on their doorway or houses. But that depth of blues really does exist in nature, in Greece for example, and these pinks really come through in an Hawaiian sunset. My best advice is to use nature around you to help you pick the right colours and use nature as an insparational palette! Also to take care that it harmonizes the colour of your home and vegetation (Images via Home Envy)

Original entrances

Since we are talking about unusual entrances, here is a stunning example of how colour can alter our moods and vision of whats behind the door. The scale of the aloe is lso very dramatic and very much in keeping with the height/scale of the door and light fixtures. What I love also is how the pink and the green perfectly mesh. This is a perfect cold pink thats refreshing, and the green is almost a gray tone.. What a fantastic dramatic statement! (Images via Coco + Kelley, Home Envy)

This entrance examplifies the great symphony between textures and patterns. The ceiling compliments so well the light fixture. The leather couch works wonderfully at keeping the room grounded. On opposite, a bench under a modern console. All elements are there. Now is it practical to put hardwood in an entrance? The reason I posted this picture in the midst of unusual pieces was the fact that the ceiling was wallpapered! Highly unusual (please call a professional and save your marriage!!). Wallpaper on the ceiling very much draws attention upwards which creates a sense of drama, and height in any room. The lighter, the better if you want to give the room a feeling of height!
