3 Celebrities' homes- Coco Chanel, David Gilmour & Donna Karan

Everyone knows that Coco Chanel lived at The Ritz Hotel in Paris for more than 30 years, and also had an apartment above her headquarters. Her style lives on. Everything from the sofa, to the light fixtures, to the wheatsheaf table. This is when you know a timeless artist was at work.

Another modern day celebrity home belongs to David Gilmour, a Canadian Enterpreneur who lives in Fidji with his wife Jill part of the year. This is truly spectacular.. personally I'm a huge fan of the mother of pearl walls in the bedroom.. At sunset, it must be all lite up! If you are looking for a great tub, check out Gingers, and for great tiling Saltillo is a personal favourite in downtown Toronto. I did notice an arrival of Fortuny pendant lights at Elte. All sizes, and just stunning.

This last home is my favourite because it looks like it belongs in nature. As you can see there are no colours other than an organic cream with some shots of deep charcoals, travertine tones and bleached floors. All organic living. Everything made the old fashion way. A local retail furniture store that specializes in this type of solid  and organic furnishings is Bohm furniture in Oakville. This is clean and healthy living to me:).. Some of my favourite wall colours for these types of homes are: Chalk Gray (Pratt and Lambert) cream with a hint of gray, Dune White by Benjamin Moore (light greige), Clunch by Farrow and Ball, Chit Chat by C2...

Sweden... Chic farmhouse

I'm one to love colour but sometimes cant resists a great interior that has that weathered bleached out style. Gray relaxes vision as it has the longest wavelength of the colour spectrum, it therefore becomes a very relaxing environment to be in. Sweden and nothern European countries are great at showcasing those types of interiors... add a little bling on the ceilings and voila! You can find similar light fixtures at Union Lighting, Elte or Sescolite on Castefield ave, Toronto..Beware with grays in North Facing room... Because the natural light tends to be cold, and bare, any grays will make the room even more drab. Go dark for North facing room.. very dark! My personal favourite wall treatments to acheive this Scandinavian look: Pavillion Gray by Farrow and Ball, Gray Mist by Benjamin Moore, Dune White by Benjamin Moore, Dorian Gray by C2, Full Moon by Pratt and Lambert, Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore, revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore........
Enjoy!

Black window frames. Low cost, huge impact!

Donna Karan's Manhattan condo... Great black windows frame the view, add an architectural element to the room.

This palette is great. Brushed brass lights warm up the cream and black frame. Shot of purple Ikat pillows to contrast and you have a great kitchen nook. Great for breakfast, lunch and dinners! Painting the frames black automotically adds a grandiose, old world feel to any room. It also anchors the eye dramatically. The windows seem recessed, and what you see is no longet the window frame, but the view outside. I would recomment it at home on all your windows. My last client painted the frames of both their bedroom and master ensuite in black, and they love it! What a difference it makes...
